Who's with me in thinking that episodic content should only be done when it's certain that the "episodes" will be delivered in a timely manner? I'm not sure who first started the idea of releasing games in bite-sized chunks, but so far, it seems to have worked out for few. It could be argued that it's worked out for companies, and that's probably true, but for gamers... it's at times been frustrating.

Honestly who's surprised... it took Valve six or seven years to develop Half Life 2 after all. And 2 years to develop Episode One, which was a whopping 4 hours of gameplay.

I think they realized Episodic content as they envisioned failed to work and has harmed HL2 more than helped it. I am perfectly fine waiting another year for a true HL3 comeback.... as they quote in the article the next Half Life is going to be "a more ambitious project" than just another episode. :)
