Minecraft's Official Release Date Set for 11/11/11

Being that Minecraft has been purchased nearly 2,000,000 times since its initial release over two years ago, and also the fact that the game enjoys very regular updates, many fans would consider the game to be in a "complete" state right now. But as stable as the game has been, it still carries a "Beta" tag, and only recently lost its "Alpha" one.

Wow, actual weather and stats/achievements in a week? That's pretty fast considering they JUST released 1.4...

As far as the beta status is concerned, Minecraft is definitely beta. There are a huge number of issues with multiplayer remaining, and plenty of minor loose ends to be tied for everything else. Multiplayer is still interesting though... I gave it a try on a PvP server, built an impregnable mob tower grinder. Why would I build stuff on a pvp server? Well, having a chest full of TNT and arrows in addition to the usual stuff makes for plenty of options in pvp mode...
