Like so many other memory vendors on the market, Kingston offers a wide array of solid-state disks for your perusal. For the low-end segment, it has the SSDNow V series, which at current time offer the best GB/$ on the market. We're taking a look at the latest release here, combining a recent JMicron controller with Toshiba NAND.

You can read Robert's in-depth look at Kingston's latest value drive here and discuss it here!

Certainly. Any sort of light workload like surfing, email, etc should be fine. This drive would be well suited for a cheap SSD replacement for a netbook or notebook drive if you want the durability of an SSD in your laptop.

It's once you start looking for performance that I'd recommend their V+ drive, or perhaps the newer model Velociraptor. I'm not sure I'd recommend carrying around a 10,000 RPM spinning disk in a laptop (in fact I would recommend against that!), but for desktops it's worth a look as it costs the same as this drive. ;)
