IDE/SATA to USB adapter trouble

Hello,

Please pardon me if this issue has already been addressed in another thread...

I connected a Seagate 120G disk drive to my Windows7 64bit laptop using a IDE/SATA to USB adapter (to a USB2 port). Windows found the device, assigned drive letter "I:" and I was able to get data off the drive. However, once I disconnected the drive, the drive letter (as well as an empty folder hierarchy, i.e., folders with nothing in them) were left in Windows Explorer. I tried connecting another disk but nothing changed.

  • The newly created "I:" drive does not show up in the disk manager.
  • I've rebooted, logged out, cycled power - Drive letter and folders are still in windowsExplorer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!
