Gigabyte to develop high-end gaming accessories...

According to DigiTimes, Gigabyte is going to begin creating their own line of "high-end" PC accessories later this year, which would include keyboards and mice. The first keyboard is due to launch for $113USD, so high-end might be a fitting title.

How long before we see something like this from ASUS?

27 minutes. It's surprising that Asus doesn't do this already. They make everything else so why not accessories.

It will be interesting to see how well they pull this off. Their motherboards are top notch, if not for their god-awful colors, I would buy their brand.

To rich for my blood, never in my life would I pay that much for a silly KB.........;)

I just got the one I have now and I was hard pressed to give out $30 for it, I though it was over priced.............;)

I am always skeptical when a company like this wants to open up a completely new product line, but these companies are huge because they make good products, so it's unlikely they'd produce something that was crap.

Looking forward to seeing them launched though, and I agree Greg, it's insane that ASUS haven't released peripherals yet. I'm sure it's in their game plan.

I agree that they'll more than likely sell some great products aimed at the high-end user. My problem is that I'm not much of a typist so those fancy KB don't interest me much. As for mice, they will more than likely be like everyone else and offer only right handed style mice and nothing for us left handers.

Yes I have a bone to pick with the mouse industry.

I agree with you sbrehm... mice companies need to push out some good products for lefties. None of them want to go that route... instead, they push out ambidextrous mice that are mediocre at best (imo).

I'm not a huge fan of ambidextrous mice either, but I've gotten used to them over the years because I've had to. Almost bought a new Logitech this evening when I went to Wal-Mart, mainly because my current mouse isn't supported by Vista.

I'll look Friday again when I get to the city (if the roads are clear of the flood waters by then), maybe Best Buy or Circuit City will have something a bit better.

Abit tried this and it led to their downfall, if Universal hadn't bought them out at the last minute. I agree Gigabyte and ASUS are the two biggest companies though so they probably have the muscle and definitely have the resources to attempt it. Whether they could make something to interest me (Let alone price it nicely *cough*) is something else altogether...

What would you call this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811173003 :D

Asus has tested the waters a bit every now and then, can't say I liked there cases (THAT ONE SUCKS), but you never know, they my come up with something besides mother boards and video cards that I really like. Don't they make CPU coolers as well.......??

ASUS already makes and sells a very large number of cases, CPU coolers, networking equipment, and a little bit of everything. So I don't see how adding keyboards, mice, and headsets to the mix is anything major really. :)

More than a few Gigabyte/ASUS things were pretty bad but it hasn't stopped them in the past from releasing things like that horribly ugly "gaming" case or still yet another cooler design. (Newegg is full of ASUS coolers, Gigabyte is probably just as bad)

I can't name any gaming peripherals specifically, but the line of Xonar products and their PhysX card (which they still market) could count.

You make some good points, and I agree. ASUS is one company in particular who has a huge amount of money to spend on R&D... so their products rarely "suck". The Xonar for example, is their first sound card, and it's flipping incredible. They came out of nowhere and offered a well-designed card with a fantastic bundle, while other old-timers (such as Creative and Auzentech) are left scratching their heads.

I'm kind of a Xonar fanboi.

Gigabyte or ASUS could both create great peripherals no problem... I guess I am just not used to see their names wrapped around such products. They both really want to own the entire market though, so seeing Gigabyte adding mice and keyboards to their line-up isn't much of a surprise.

Asus has terrible cases.

This new gigabyte keyboard is ugly. It looks like the old IBM keyboards with it's slanted top section. This board is getting far more attention then it deserves IMO.

I am biased as well. I might never be as satisfied with a keyboard as I am with the Saitek Eclipse II. I'd marry it if it were legal here in Indiana.

I'm 100% with you on the Saitek Eclipse series KB, I got mine not to long ago and it is by far the best KB I've used to date. But I'll remain open minded to other products from other companies. Everyone has their own opinion and likes and dislikes as to what works for them.
