This will probably come as no surprise to anyone, but I still find it quite impressive. Of the staggering 940+ million downloads off of Apple's app store, 800 million are games. That's insane! I find this interesting, because when the app store was first launched, friends would tell me about the cool apps they downloaded, but never talked about a game. With this ratio, it means that for every 1 app someone downloads, they download six games!
Thinking about it though, it does seem reasonable. The same can be said for the PC as well. Once you have a good set of applications, there's no real reason to go out and seek more. The opposite can be said about gaming though. One thing's for sure though... unless you have an absolutely stellar app, it doesn't seem to pay to develop anything but a game here.
