The popular multi-network chat client GAIM is being forced to rename due to conflict with the bastards at AOL. The new name is Pidgin, but it has nothing to do with a bird. Rather, pidgen is when two languages are combined. So, it's somewhat appropriate since it combines multiple chat networks to act as one.
I find it a foolish name, but it's better than the project disappearing entirely. I have used the program for years, so I hate to see it be renamed for a stupid reason, but I can imagine how the developers feel, so I have no right to complain ;-)
