Remember that XFX 8600GT box that had a wolf and the eVGA name in it's drool?

We have received the documents from Munich Court and Chamber of Commerce that confirm that EVGA won the injunction, damages ranging from 5 to 250.000 Euro and a ban of sales of allegedly offending products in German retail and e-tail stores, until new artwork is produced.

Even with a fine, this probably helps out XFX more than hurts them. eVGA is obviously the dominator when it comes to sales. I always recommend people to go with an eVGA product. No reason other than that I've had great luck with their products. Now everyone is seeing XFX in the limelight thanks to this suit, and they may wander towards purchasing a card from them.

That's my random thought on things.

I wouldn't be surprised if that lettering was put there by some sneaky dumb-ass and no one else picked up on it before it went to print. There simply isn't any conceivable benefit to having that in your artwork - not only is it too vague to be easily noticed, but it has no apparent meaning.

It could've been someone at XFX thinking 'heh, this will make it look like we just got finished eating EVGA'. It could've been someone from EVGA thinking 'heh, those XFX dumb-asses won't even notice that I slipped our logo into their artwork!'
