does the ati 5850 eat all the bandwidth of pci-e 1.0?

ei guys i have a motherboard which only supports one pci-e 1.0 16x slot..and i know that most 2.0 gpu cards are backwards compatible but since the ati 5850 is new i was wondering if its better to upgrade to a board which has a 2.0x16 slot...or would there be no difference at all?? any input would be helpful...thanks!!!!

i would upgrade just to get it out of the way, but if cash is tight, as long as your not running games at 1920x1080 or over i don't think you'll notice a difference

but i do plan to run a games at a 1920x1080 resolution why is there such a huge difference at that resolution?? does the 5850 eat that much bandwidth already?
