This month, Dell launches its new "Partners Wanted" advertising campaign. HP partners got a sneak peek at the ad campaign at the HP Americas Partner Conference in Las Vegas this past week, where we distributed samples of the Dell ad to approximately 800 HP partners attending the conference. Only the highly-efficient and professional Caesar's Palace security staff prevented our team from reaching all 1,100 HP partners in attendance.

When Intel first took over Quakecon from AMD, AMD was still there. It was quite funny. Intel (at the time) was still force feeding the P4 as the CPU for gamers, and AMD was firmly in control with the A64 and the FX. AMD was handing out T-shirts (which I still have 3-4 of) that simply stated "How fast is yours?", then had the AMD A64 or the FX logo on the back. Those shirts were EVERYWHERE! Intel was handing out shirts, but strangly enough, not many were being worn! ;)

Clearly guerilla marketing tactics are becoming mainstream, especially between heated rivals. AMD has been known to do that in the past with Intel at their IDF.

I believe this last year, they paid a skywriter service to write some AMD'ness over the Convention center where IDF was being held at.

I find it kind of humorous.
