I just put a system together using their pricing and was I surprised.
My system came to over six grand.

I wonder what the standard markup is for custom-built nowadays.
When I built my box (5 years ago), I spent $600 and have put maybe $300 in it since and it still plays everything quite nicely.
That one was priced at $1250 buying almost the exact same specs custom built.

When I built my current main rig the 7800 gt cards were $300 on new egg. When I went to Frye's about 2 month's later I found the exact same cards for $625. The funny thing about it is that the 7850 and 7900 cards had already come out but they didn't have them for sale.

Technology changes fast. Businesses are reluctant to charge less for components they paid more for. A lot of these businesses tank.

It's nothing new that boutique computer builders charge an arm and a leg. Much of it is the case/software/support/bragging rights.
