Trying to put together a budget I7 build. Here is what I have so far. Keep in mind that quiet is a top priority. Hence, I still do not have a case picked out, looking for a dark one as this system will reside in a bedroom which is why I want dark and quiet. Nobody is going to see it so wadda I care what it looks like.

The Build

Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-DS4 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

1- SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card
or the following which is basically the same performance BUT the MSI is hugh and may not fit case well
2- MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GTX 260 - $200

WESTERN DIGITAL Caviar?SE16 SATA WD6400AAKS SATA 7200 RPM 16MB Buffer Hard Drive

GTX 260 Core 216 verses 4870 1GB is a pretty even matchup, price and things like the warranty would be what I'd look at as they are pretty close. Keep in mind newer 55nm versions of the GTX 260 are due soon and should be near or about the same price.

The rest of your setup looks pretty good, although the Link might be a cheaper drive with same or better warranty. Was $10 cheaper a few days ago, at $78 shipped.

That rig looks great, but I wish I could give a great suggestion on a chassis. I love my Antec P182, but it's a little bit too small, so it's hard to. It also depends on what you are looking for in a case aside from silence. Does it matter if it's expensive, or has a window, or is rather large (full-tower)? I use SilverStone's TJ10's for our testing machines and I love them, but they are $300. Fantastic airflow, though.
