And apparently some individuals, for um... killing lulz?

The truth is that it is just a matter of time before something goes too far and governments step in to try to do something, what it will be and how effective it will be is debatable. How far will it have to go? It is no secret that there are people on the Internet that are crazy and do things, sometimes horrible atrocities, for no real reason other than a post by someone online, sometimes just to post it online later. A recent suicide that was streamed online to community members comes to mind.

I personally visit the site. I've contributed some pictures and thoughts. I enjoy the site. I Lol at "/b/tards a lot. Is there cause for civil suits against some? Sure. Did this reporter go overboard? Hells yeah. Is this something that should be reported?

Most of the offenders are young people (kids/young adults) who want to feel that they have an effect on the world, reporting about it makes them feel empowered.

I still plan on visiting the site.

To close... Anonymous is cult or something now? A terrorist group? HAH!

-Anonymous, er... unless you look at my name to the <

Overyhyped, yes

Bunch of cowards hiding behind a keyboard, definitely.

Things like this will cause the world's governments, especially the US, to regulate the internet eventually. It's not a matter of if, it is a matter of when.

One final thought, while it shouldn't be like that, it does serve the "Myspace" crowd right for posting their life online and expecting any sort of privacy at all. On the WWW, there is no such thing as privacy or safety. WWW = Wild Wild World.

Yup, for sure. Or, the smart thing to do would be to just trace each responsible IP address. Proxies or not, the government is able to track people if they want to, and if a group is giving death/bomb threats, I think they deserve to be dealt with.

It also goes to show just how vulnerable sites like MySpace are, especially if they could release a list with plain text passwords, which should be encrypted. FaceBook is just as bad... and I'm sure there are others.

Those guys need a life though, regardless.

"treating the web like a real life video game" -um... trying to get on the video game scare again are we?

"Sacking websites" - So does Penny arcade every time the link a cheaply hosted web site.

"hacker gang" - Sweet! Whats the initiation??? Oh... anyone can join... augh. Not exclusive enough for me.

"Anonymous credo" - It wasn't the credo until it made the Fox 11 news... Judging from the posts last night though, the News gave them direction.

"requires anyone posting on the site to remain anonymous" - Last i checked there was a name, and email address field on most of those sites... Anonymity is optional.

"killed my friends computers" - Did they take a gun to it? There is a comp virus that can kill every component in a computer? wait... Are computers alive to begin with?

Ive seen breakdowns of this video so far, but these are some things that stood out to me that haven't really been quoted yet.

Sounds like this report is trying to blame every stupid key-logger attack and spam email on a single group.

This 'Anonymous' BS sounds like another name for jackass hackers in general. Like if you steal someone's MySpace password, all of a sudden you're a member of a domestic terrorist organization.

'My GF dumped me because she thought I was cheating on her with a guy' Are you kidding me? And you're angry that these 'hackers' are messing with your 'life'?

Nothing like stupid reporters blowing stupid crimes commited against stupid people out of proportion to encourage others to join the fun. Sounds like teeny-bopper Project Mayhem to me.
