Thanks for your help Rob I am now running the OCX 7200 at 4-4-4-12 2T stable at 475.

Well, with the E6750 I have managed to even boot into Windows with a 500 FSB so it must have been the CPU blocking me. I am also happy to report that the OCZ 7200 will happily run at 500 but my timings were on Auto (5-6-6-18), I'll try to bring them down to what you achieved in your review Rob.

Could it be the CPU itself that was preventing me from reaching a high FSB?

The E6600 has been sold on eBay and I bought a new E6750 (which was cheaper than the E6600!). So far the memory has been running at rated speed and timings and has reached nearly 800% on memtest without any errors. I don't think there will be any. So, the question is: Do I have a dud Striker?

The problem is I don't think there is any benefit to my gaming whether I run the E6600 at 3.6. I noticed that the biggest jump in 3DMark score came from 2.4 going to 2.88

Hitting 430 FSB was easy. It's getting past that became ridiculous, not even 1.7 NB and SB would do it :confused: Anyway, I've hit 3.6GHz but it has taken 1.525v (BIOS)/ 1.47-9v (PC Probe), load temp is between 44-47C (PC Probe), 47-45 to 50-47 (CoreTemp).

I did a short one but I'll let run tonight for a complete test. The thing is I am underclocking the RAM too (both in timings and speed), so why would it be an issue (unless it's really faulty). By the way I raised the multi to x8 and reached 3.2Ghz, temp at load is not an issue yet: HT...

Well, this is all with a multi of 6 so the CPU shouldn't be the problem. My PSU is a 1K Galaxy DXX do I doubt it a current issue either.

Well, I received the Striker today and I am already testing it. It booted with 360 FSB first time, no problems and with very little additional voltage, did a 10 minute test with ORTHOS, no problems either. (those MB buttons do look nice and are very useful to me as I don't use a PC case)...

I don't mind the memory ability as I don't plan to exceed RAM 450 but I want to avoid this mess with the FSB, so I'm looking for a board that can easily reach high FSB. Ironically, the Asus P5N32-E SLI (without the 'Plus') can do that. It's a 680 chipset. I'm also looking into the Asus...

That was my fault I think because I didn't Disable all the relevant CPU options such as speed throtling nor did I increase the NB/SB voltage. From what I read 3.6 is well within the E6600's limits even on air but it does require a quality high perfromance heatsink like the Tuniq 120 or...

OK, I went to overclocking.net for more details and realised one thing: it's all down to your CPU week production. Mine is a E6600 L629F which means it has it's own quirky settings. What I have yet to determine is how much does one usually need to increase NB, SB for a target of 3.4-3.6GHz...
