FTC to require real testimonials for advertisements

You clearly implied that small regional banks that have survived the credit crisis were somehow less greedy than larger banks without a full understanding of the big picture. Pointing out that regional banks were originating and selling off bad loans to larger banks in no way contributed to your...

FTC to require real testimonials for advertisements

I'll put it this way then... the FTC can't regulate stupidity. It's nice that the FTC is making a show about cracking down on misleading ads, but these products are likely to continue to be purchased by exactly the same demographic of delusional/intellectually challenged consumers. You don't see...

Obama administration supports RIAA's ludicrous fines

It's always reassuring when your elected officials are coming out on the side of a lobbying interest that imposes "fines" yet isn't a branch of the government and isn't subject to oversight of any kind. It's not like industry groups like the RIAA have ever abused the system for their own gain...

Class Action Against Best Buy's Price-Matching Policy

That's always been an incredibly lame excuse for poor customer service. It really boils down to the corporate culture that pervades every level of Best Buy, combined with each individual's capacity for showing common courtesy. Besides, $10 an hour is more than fair for an employee with either no...

FTC to require real testimonials for advertisements

I hope this push for the truth from the FTC goes a little further than the testimonial advertisements that anyone with a third grade education ignored already. As far as blaming the government for the credit crisis... it's not an oversimplification, it's a logical assesment of blame. AIG...

Class Action Against Best Buy's Price-Matching Policy

Is there another retailer as openly hostile to it's customers as Best Buy? It seems like every internal memo that leaks out of them has a "there's a sucker born every minute" vibe to it.

Retail Core i7 Processors Are Memory/QPI Unlocked

Just got my 920, DDR31600 RAM, and P6T yesterday so I figured I'd give this a whirl... didn't work until I updated the BIOS to a version that came out on March 6th. Maybe it took a while for people to realize that Intel had unlocked the Memory frequency because earlier BIOS's had spotty support...

    2.0/2.1 pc speakers

Trying to put together a decent 2.1 PC setup is such a royal PITA that now I remember why I switched to headphones. I guess cobbling together a mix of HT satellites and a low-end subwoofer/amp would yield acceptable results for around $150, but for the same money I can get a nice set of 'phones...

Apple Releases Third Generation iPod shuffle

I still prefer the 1st generation shuffle even though I can't look at one now without snickering thanks to the "you peed on my ipod..." skit from a few years back. Damn thing did look like a home pregnancy test.

    2.0/2.1 pc speakers

Thanks for the welcome... Come to think of it if I had that soundcard and about $150-$175 to blow on speakers I'd pick up a cheaper set of 2.1 speakers (maybe Logitech's Z-2300) and get a set of Grado SR-60 headphones for critical listening, they run about $60-$70 and they sound great...

If you listen to anything that involves drums you'll be much happier with a sub at that pricerange.
