IDT Audio issues and Windows XP

Haha, that comment made me laugh out loud. But no, it wasn't you. You never said that Windows 7 was awful. You just said you were concerned with jumping on the fresh OS bandwagon at launch, and understandably so. Otherwise, the response to the OS has been extremely good up to this point, so I'm...

    Think your PC is dirty?

Good on you man, seriously. It brings me joy to just picture how that played out. Hopefully he got what he deserved. 40GB sure isn't an accident... that's an unbelievable amount. Stories like this just turn my stomach. It's hard to believe that there's demand out there for five-year-old girls...

IDT Audio issues and Windows XP

While I'd love to help, it'd take me hours to get that Skulltrail rig back up and running. I just have a small shelf here that I fill with random parts, and on top of it is the D5400XS with its dual QX9775's... it hasn't moved since last spring, except to clean around it. Yes, that's kind of...

Haha, you're crafty. Don't act like that wasn't you ;)

    Think your PC is dirty?

Aside from the obvious, people who keep and view child porn are idiots. If I had a closet full of narcotics (I don't), am I going to let someone go in there to retrieve my jacket? It doesn't make sense. As far as child porn goes, I'm glad they're oblivious... they need to get caught somehow.

Setting Up Wireless in Ubuntu is Hit or Miss

To be honest, it's no more difficult in Linux than it is in Windows. In fact, it's a tad easier. You click on the wireless icon at the top right-hand corner, select the network, put in the encryption key, and connect. I've included screenshots to show it off. Haha! I've been in that situation...

Setting Up Wireless in Ubuntu is Hit or Miss

From our front-page news: Earlier this month, I made a news post discussing some fresh changes unveiled with the latest version of Ubuntu, 9.04 (also referred to as Jaunty Jackalope). I've been using the latest OS on my notebook a fair bit since then, and I have to say, this is easily the best...

    Overclocking Intel's Core i5-750 & i7-870

If the CPU voltage is kept at stock, then a stock CPU cooler would suffice. Upping the CPU frequency does increase the CPU temperature as well, but its effect is nothing close to increasing the voltage.

    Think your PC is dirty?

That's something I've often thought about, and I'm sure there's reason for real concern. Some people just love to make other people miserable.

Personal SSD Usage: TRIM and Linux

From our front-page news: SSDs might have been out and about for a couple of years, but up until now, I've never used one in my personal machine. I've of course fiddled with them on our benchmarking machines, but as for putting one to a more realistic, and long-term use, I haven't. That's going...

    SATA GH22NS50 Freezes My Computer

That drive sounds like bad news all-around. There's little sense in recommending anything except to get another drive. Like Tango, I'd highly recommend Pioneer (they're my first choice) or Lite-On.

    Quick-Gage: AMD's 125W Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

People scoffed at AMD when it released its Phenom II X4 965 a few months ago thanks to the 140W power rating. To help make up for it, the company has now followed-up with a 125W version, sporting a lower price, along with improved C1E and DDR3-1333 support. With these improvements, is the X4 965...

Modern Warfare 2 Set to Disappoint PC Gamers

Erick, you make some great points, and I hate to admit it, but I might agree with you on a few. It does bug the hell out of me, that Infinity Ward, a developer who first became famous because of the first CoD game on the PC, is now shunning it. It's not fair, and given there is a huge market for...

Microsoft Disconnects 600,000 Xbox Live Gamers

Piracy is bad all over, but it goes without saying that it's the absolute worst on the PC. As I mentioned above, to pirate a game for the Xbox, you need to modify your console, or have someone do it for you. On the PC, you usually install the game and run a crack. It's unfortunately way too...

Modern Warfare 2 Filled with Controversy

There is indeed a lot of controversial missions in the entire CoD series, but the reason this one stands out is because it's player-controlled killing of innocent people that's involved. The interesting thing is that after playing the mission, I believe it doesn't even have to be in there. Yes...

Installing DirectX 11 Under Windows Vista

I'm still waiting to see what kind of effect DirectX 11 will have on gaming. I can't wait for Dirt 2 to get here so I can see just what it's made of, and how important it is.

Dell Releases World's Thinnest Notebook, Adamo XPS

I'm of the same mindset, but I do think it has a market, but mostly for business men and women who frequent meetings with clients often. It looks a lot better when you show up with a sexy and stylish notebook like this or the MacBook Air rather than some bulky-looking toy ;-) I can see your...

Need advice on choosing a PCI soundcard

Once again, I'm not sure how I missed this response. Thanks a ton for the information man. I don't have much to add, but will take it all into consideration when I decide to purchase some equipment. The first purchase will be Ableton, and then nothing more for a little bit after that since it's...
