$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

Since you all were so helpful in assisting me in my build, I thought I would let you know I received all the parts and put them together. Now I'm afraid to turn it on for fear of it exploding.:D Nothing had real clear instruction on what goes where (cables and wires) so half of the things I...

$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

Well, it's done. The order has been made, now I can just set back and wait for the parts to start rolling in, and hope I can actually put this thing together without messing it up. :) Thank you all for the help you have given me, I couldn't have done it without you. In the end after instant...

OK, maybe we are getting to the end of this adventure. At $920 is a little over my budget but I can swing that if I have to, so is there any changes you would make, cheaper alternatives you know of? ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard AMD Phenom II X4 955...

$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

If you have a PCI Express 2.0 x16 motherboard, do you need a PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphic card, or will a PCI Express 2.1 x16 graphic card work in it also? I ask because I just noticed that my Motherboard is a PCI Express 2.0 x16 while my graphic card is a PCI Express 2.1 x16. ASRock 870...

OK, I'm going with the 6870. Now, the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition or the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. There is only a $20 price difference, but is the performance of the 965 $20 better than 955, or should I just go with the 955 and pocket the extra $20.

OK, from best to worst in descending order, which would be the better gaming GPU. The HD 6870, 6850, 5870, or 5850?

Now my question is, How many fans would I have to by for the HAF 912. The details for it says under Cooling System "1 x 120 mm front fans, 1200 RPM, 17 dBA". Then under Features "Supports two 120mm radiator fans" and "Supports 200mm Megaflow fans for increased airflow" Does that mean that it...

Yes, all of those listings are from Newegg. And that cooler has been added to the cart. Optix, there were three Antec Three Hundreds listed, so I'm not sure which one you are referring to. Now, having done all of this, would it be better to go ahead and get this or wait a few weeks for the...

$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

I don't plan to do any overclocking but that doesn't mean that I wont. What would be a good and relatively cheep aftermarket heatsink? And keeping in mind that I may, at some point, by a second GTX 560 to SLI, could I get away with a smaller PSU? Also I have always be partial to nVidia...

$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

1TB HD should be enough, I can see myself needing more and the cheapest 2TB 7200rpm is around $120. And I have 23" Samsung lcd so the monitor is covered. The resolutions I will be using will be around 1920x1080. So this is what I have put together so far. Dose it all look compatible and do you...

$700-$800 first time build need suggestions

It will be used mostly for gaming and the internet. Large storage is the only must have like say 1TB. And space isn't a problem, full or mid tower, either one is fine. I will also need Windows 7 64 bit OS so that will have to be factored into the budget.

Anyone have some suggestions on the parts I should get to build a $700-$800 gaming computer. I really have no idea what I should get, in the past I just went to a store like Besybuy and got one already assembled. All I need is the tower and it's components, already have a good monitor, mouse...
