Default Site Contest: Win an Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Gaming PC!

Hi all:

Thanks to our friends at Intel and iBUYPOWER, we're offering up a sweet gaming PC that comes equipped with Intel's highest-end offering; the six-core Core i7-980X Extreme Edition. As you've likely learned from our in-depth look, this processor is unbelievably powerful, and in general an absolute blast to use (and push to its limits, which are hard to hit!).

All of the details and rules can be found on our contest page. To enter, simply answer our question and post the answers here. Also include your Twitter name and follow us on Twitter to acquire a second entry!

What six aspects of computing and technology have made your life easier and more enjoyable?

To kick things off, my personal six are:

1 - Communication! I have met some great people online thanks to the ease of communication.

2 - Banking. It's such a relief to bank online rather than stand in line for a half-an-hour at the branch.

3 - Gaming! I am not sure what life would be like without PC gaming... I love it!

4 - Gathering information. I think I'd be a bit ashamed to admit just how many times I visit Wikipedia in a given day...

5 - Mobility. It's all too refreshing to be able to get work done while on the go. Being able to have a very small music player that holds my entire collection of music sure doesn't cause me to complain, either!

6 - Increased creativity. Sure, being creative can happen away from a PC, but it's so easy to let the ideas flow when you are sitting in front of a screen. You could be an artist, a developer, a musician, a writer and more, and all of this can be made easier and more productive with the help of a PC.

Having a hard time thinking of six? Don't stress it... some ideas can be loosely related to another, and you don't have to stick to something that requires a PC. Do you love how complicated self-checkouts at the supermarket has made things? That's just an example!

Contest ends on Friday, April 16, 11:59PM EST.

Good luck to all who enter!

SWEET! I hope I win

1 - Homework: Without a computer I wouldn't be able to do all the important assignments for class I also have horrible writing so with word processor people can actually read my work. I can also use wikipedia and other such websites to research material for homework. There are also programs I can use to help with formatting (I have alot of trouble with citation).

2 - Communicating: I'm not much of a people person (it's a celebration when I go out) But facebook, MSN, and email help me stay caught up with friends and family. They also provide things to do when I'm bored and have nothing better to do (Mafia wars and all those other games on facebook) I can also read all the juicy gossip going on with the people I'm not so fond of haha. I can also send all my friends and families those funny emails we all get lol

3 - Gaming. When I was young I never got a console so the only thing I could use was my PC. It wasn't that good (still isn't haha) but it was something. Then I moved to California where I met a guy named Bo who showed me steam. Afterwards, my dad got a cheap laptop but It was better than this old computer. I was addicted. I think I have about 45 games on steam and 20 retail games.I believe because of him I am now a Valve fanboy haha . Unfortunately, that computer broke when I moved back to Canada and now I have nothing to game on.

4 - Research. Not like for homework but for things in General. If I want to buy something I can go and google it to see how good a specific item is compared to others. Also, websites like Techgage help me decide on what I want to buy in the future. That is If I can save up the money for a new rig.

5 - Entertainment. I only recently started listening to music lately. When I was younger I didn't really enjoy it but now I love it and websites on the internet help me keep up with that. Also, game sites where you can spend a couple minutes, or even hours, just killing time. Last but not least, Video streaming websites. Youtube, Google video, If I'm bored I can just watch some funny vids or even post my own.

6 - Computers overall. Computers have helped us alot over the years and they have come a long way since even 10 years ago. It's just such an interesting topic that I love to discuss and learn more about. Not just for every day use but like how we have automated machinery that creates cars and even OTHER computers, It all helps alot and I can not imagine a world without computers. We'd all be stuck writing on pieces of paper and killing trees. Thats another thing, computers used to consume alot of power but now they are starting to use less and are becoming even more environmentally friendly. Which is something we really need in this day and age.

What six aspects of computing and technology have made your life easier and more enjoyable?

1. E-mail - I think most people will agree that this is one of the single best inventions ever.
2. PC Gaming - Where the multi-player games do not always come with a subscription! And it is also a down side in all the time of my life I have wasted on FPS and the old school online game type - MUDs (oh that a down side?).
3. Research - Working on school papers is so much easier thanks to the plethera of information available on the internet.
4. E-tail - Who does not love shopping from your own home (at least as opposed to actually going to a store and dealing with *gasp* people)?
5. News - The internet (mainly tech sites like this) is the only place I get my news.
6. Mobility - With my Android phone and my Win7 laptop, I can accomplish any of these tasks no matter where I am.

Thanks for the contest and good luck to everyone that enters.

1. Accessibility - The internet with the high speeds of today allow everyone to be connected and to send files are reasonable speeds, letting more information be found by more people.
2. Gaming - It got me into computers, over the years and i still got pcgamer magazines from 1997 showing Duke Nukem Forever on it, look though that and man that was crazy and to think that was high tech back then. games will only get better in looks, complexity, and best of all get that much more bad ass.
3. Monitors - The tech has been there for some time but out of the affordable reach of many. Now with ATI eyefinity and nvidia's 3d surround, makes my life that much more fun playing games and working on programs and websites instead of minimizing programs all the time.
4. Hardware - newer hardware the more it can do, especially Load times , i like everything fast. click something and it opens, not waiting 5 minutes makes me a twitch-less happy man.
5. Banking - Doing it at home brings great joy to many people, not having to leave home to do bill payments or transfers.
6. Potential - Computers still have a long way to go in my opinion. Computers will continue to get faster and do more, and new technologies will emerge like doing things though mind like virtually when you close your eyes and your in a computer doing things.

great contest! keep them coming. my twitter name is dinmaster

Default Site Contest: Win an Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Gaming PC!

The six aspects of computing and technology that have made my life easier and more enjoyable:

1) Having the world at my fingertips... A seemingly endless source of information about everything (assuming, of course, that you can separate the wheat from the chaff).

2) Being able to stay in touch and communicate with virtually anybody and everybody!

3) Limitless hours of mind-numbing entertainment possibilities... From games to movies and more...

4) The power of content creation: Being able to easily create movies and slideshows, etc., and effortlessly share these moments with whomever I choose.

5) Endless hours of tinkering and learning -- being a geek, I love the fact that the technology advances so quickly that there aren't enough days in my lifetime to learn about it all and play with it all.

6) Technology is becoming the great democratizer and is tearing down walls... The opportunities that technology offers to individuals, societies, countries, etc., doesn't care about race, religion, or where you are from -- Technology is at the heart of the next social revolution.
