The news of 3D Realms demise hit the Internet like a ton of bricks last week, and to say it's disappointing would be a major understatement. As a developer that's been around for over 20 years, they have a lot to boast about today. Read on as we take a stroll down memory lane, and see just what it was that made Apogee so innovative and unique.
You can read the full article here and discuss it here.

Well, I have a feeling that given this is getting so much attention, some new companies are in talks with 3D Realms, so who knows what will happen. I wholeheartedly believe that the company won't resurface as it just left off, because that requires a ton of money, and assurance that the game will ship soon. It still wouldn't surprise me in the least to see another developer take over in order to get it out though.

I am deeply saddened by this news. It seems like yesterday I was dialing up one of my oldest friends to play Duke 3D. Hide in the bathroom in the first level just to frag him with my rocket launcher.
