Default IDF 07 SF: Skulltrail, QX9650, 45nm Performance Preview

During a closed-session demonstration of Skulltrail and 45nm processors, we saw first-hand what 45nm offerings will deliver when compared to current products. We walk away with assurance that Skulltrail is extreme and also that SSE4 can make a huge impact in multi-media tasks.

What exactly is Intel trying to prove with the first benchmark series? Two 8800GTXs are better than one? 4gb RAM (edit: 3gb w/ 32bit OS) is better than 2? Oh, wait, it must be the processor...

The SSE4 bench was nice.

It really wasn't a fair comparison, and Intel openly admitted that. So yeah, you are right, it wasn't a fair playing field but it's coolness was undeniable. Look for a more level comparison when we start testing Yorkfield in house.
