Default CompactFlash 'CFast 2.0' Standard to Allow 600MB/s Speeds

If that 20GB video you just filmed is taking too long to copy over to your PC, don't fret - there's a solution en route. Looking past that fact that you'll need a new camera, the CompactFlash Association has just announced its CFast 2.0 draft specification, which puts CF cards behind a SATA 6Gbit/s interface that can allow up to a 600MB/s transfer rate. At about 4x the speed of current top-end CF cards, this performance is undoubtedly impressive.

No doubt it'll cost a fortune, but then I look at the "CF cards behind a SATA 6Gbit/s interface" part and just sigh...

"We have existing products that can fulfil this problem, but we need to make another to keep the current format alive to be backwards compatible."

What are SSDs? Flash memory behind a SATA interface. "But they're too big!" I hear them cry. I guess the 1.8", Nano-SSD and the NGFF SSDs used in ultra books are too big too.
