I, too, have been looking into another keyboard. The G15 was highly recommended by a fellow DoD clan member. He said he uses one, which surprised me. He's in his 40's! He loved the backlit keys and says the LCD is great. I love the Elite that I have now, but the times they are a changin'.
The size is the biggest turn off for me. I've seen it in stores and it is a BIG keyboard. I thought the Elite was large, but the G15 shows it up. Like you mentioned, Greg, I'm not sure how fuctional the G keys would be for a fps gamer. I'd be nice to see a version without them. Do you know where I can find a list of games the G15 already supports? I normally play in a dark environment to reduce glare etc. This has caused problems with me hitting keys and accidently killing, kicking, and slaying people. I accidently kicked another admin on the server last night because of it. I have looked at the Eclipse by Saitek, but I love the functionality and controls that Logitech brings. It's great to see the site reviewing a good-looking, promising keyboard like the G15. It's definitely something I'll keep on my list.

I've had this keyboard for about 5 months now and I absolutely love it. This coupled with a G5 laser mouse makes for a pretty sweet gaming rig. I would highly recommend it to anyone, it feels and looks bulletproof. Good stuff.

Jakal,
I will be reviewing the Saitek Eclipse II very soon so stay tuned for the article. From my initial views though, the G15 is the way to go. It is huge but each key is lighted which is nice. You can find more info on supported games at Logitech's site. Also, check out the G15 forums that I mentioned near the end of the review as you can find a lot of neat applets there as well. Pacoboyd, Yes, the G15 is a killer keyboard. Thanks for the comments.

That is a shortcoming of the board of course. However, I haven't used the USB ports more than 2-3 times since the review so it doesn't effect me as much as it clearly does you.

You could always spend $100 on a Tarantula. Oh wait, that doesn't have usb2.0 either. Maybe the Reclusa...nope, not that one.
I'll agree that USB2.0 would be nice, but considering that no other board has them either, I can't really complain. |
