2Pac performs at Coachella. Awkward awesomeness ensues.

So this happened.

2Pac, unfortunately dead since 1996, had another 5 minutes of fame at Coachella over the weekend as a very convincing hologram of him rapped along side a still alive Snoop. It's amazing how well this was done and I honest to goodness got goose bumps when 2Pac said hello to Coachella. Unfortunately, I am assuming most people there were too young to really appreciate what 2Pac did for the genre, both good and bad. I wish I could have been there. Both songs performed are among my favorites of all time.

Regardless of your stance on the genre and the person, this is a very awesome application of technology.

I saw this live (watching through the YouTube channel)... it was so epic. Seriously.

I am not sure I ever linked it here before, but the same tech has been used in Asia to some great success: http://bit.ly/HI1zXF

I am not exactly the sort of person that would want to go to a concert and groove to some hologram, but the tech is cool nonetheless.

I don't think I would want to go to a concert that was entirely this but if I was ever at an event and this happened, especially when it was unexpected, would absolutely blow my mind. Seeing Snoop in person* would be awesome, having him rap with a virtual 2Pac would be/was awesome.

*I saw Snoop live in 2003 and it was when he was in his suck major ass time of his career and it was a major let down. Hip hop in general doesn't seem to lend itself well to liver performances but who knows. Eminem was awesome live but damn if Snoop wasn't terrible.

I agree... something like this out-of-the-blue would be intense. Even just watching live I was dumbfounded for a minute, wondering if I was really seeing what I thought I was seeing. It was very well orchestrated.

I agree on Snoop concerts, though I've only been to one. It was either in 2003 or 2004 and his set lasted about 45 minutes. Even the opening band sucked. The 50 Cent concert I saw a month or so prior was far better, and I was introduced to David Banner there, so that's a bonus.
