Default Sickness sucks!

Hi all:

Well, I can't say that I didn't see this coming. In the past month or two, so much has gone wrong, from a hard drive crash, to even a hard drive crashing on the server, to issues with our benchmarking testing. So what else could go wrong? Well, I could fall ill, which is what happened earlier this week. Family member brought a cool gift home called "the flu" a few weeks ago, and it took about two weeks for it to catch up to me, but lo and behold, I'm not quite as resilient as I thought I was

Apologies for the lack of content to end the week off with. On Mon, I had a full queue of content to prepare, but then this sickness hit me and took all the fun out of life. Next week will be a different story, though I can't give a hint since some is under embargo and the other should be left as a surprise so other sites don't borrow the idea (it's happened before).

So, stay tuned, we'll be back at 100% next week.

Caffeine is bad to drink while sick? I wish someone told me that earlier... I drink coffee like there's no tomorrow (on the third cup of the day at the moment).

I'm fortunate in that I don't have a full-fledged flu, and I don't expect that to change. I am suffering most with a bad headache that pills don't seem to be helping, a sore throat and occasional running nose. Fun stuff. I sure don't have a sore throat like you did though... wow that sounds horrible

Are you taking Tamiflu?

What's Tamiflu? I'm not taking anything except Advil, but that's more for a toothache and the headache. I took some Buckley's tablets the other day, but they didn't do anything, so I didn't bother with a follow-up. I generally avoid medicine unless I find it's actually doing something.

No not talking Tamiflu, but "ma google" came back with sore throat remedies & tea was high on the list. I have never drank so much chamomile ever before.

I never drank chamomile before.

Quote:
Tamiflu Basics:
Tamiflu is a prescription antiviral medication that can be used to treat influenza infections (the flu) in children and adults, if their symptoms have started within the last day or two before starting to take Tamiflu. It can also be used to prevent the flu in children, teens and adults who have been exposed to the influenza virus.

What Tamiflu Is Used For:
Tamiflu is approved to treat the flu in adults and children over age 12 months. It is also indicated as prophylaxis, or a preventative, against the flu for adults and children over age 12 months.
It requires a prescription so I would contact a doctor, or an MD friend. It will cut down your sickness time, but you should only bother taking it if you're in the early stages of the illness (first 2-3 days).

I do drink tea, so perhaps I should focus more on that (I drink green and rooibos for the most part).

Chamomile is fine once in a while, but it can become gross if you drink too much in a short period of time (at least that's how it is for me).

Ahh, interesting, thanks. I think I'm at the tail end of the sickness though, so I should be alright. Nor do I have a doctor, so getting a prescription might be a little tough ;-)

A nice hot cup of Orange Peko with a few drops of lemon and honey always makes me feel better.

Get well soon, my friend.

Look on the bright side, at least you didn't crash or fail like any of those hard drives!

I've been lucky so far, first day of classes one Professor announced to the class that a student had called in sick from H1N1, that got the class's attention quick. I'm sure there were plenty more I passed in the hallways though. And the regular flu season is only just beginning....

At any rate, I hope you get over it fast! Stay warm by keeping the computers number crunching or something...

Of course, now that I'm feeling better (damn cough won't go away, though), life is keeping me busy. Had a lot of things to do this week that I forgot all about (and still have the dentist tomorrow... it gets better). I am hoping things slow down soon so I can take care of my ridiculous backlog of work.

First thing's first. Get well, and then you can worry about your backlog. No point in over straining and prolonging the sickness longer than you ought to.

I am feeling a lot better (still coughing though for some reason), so I'm good there. The past week has been rough where regular chores in life are concerned, though, and it doesn't seem to be getting much better this week. I can't wait until two weeks from now when I should be able to get down to business and FOCUS.

Sucks you got the flu man. I got it last year and it was no fun at all. Here recently I had a bit of a scare, I thought I'd had a stroke so I went to see the doctor to get checked out and ended getting sick to boot.

At least it wasn't a stroke.
