First off, we are not Driverheaven, so I have no idea why you keep bringing them up.
I believe you know why I brought them up. I was pointing out, that someone who joined a lot of contests could not distinguish your contest rules from any other.


They can run contests by their rules, I'll run mine by my rules.
You basically summed the whole problem up there. There was no rules that distinguished this contest from any other. As far as I knew this was a standard slogan contest.


I prefer to retain a friendly competition where one user doesn't have a massive advantage over another.
I thought the idea of the contest was to help the site with a good slogan, which is what I was trying to do. Yes I would like to win, but someone who puts in an extraordinary amount of time would of been helping the site with coming up with a good slogan.


The key to winning this contest is to think of a GOOD slogan, not throwing 300 at us and hope one of them is killer.
You seem to be under the impression that quantity means that the quality is poor? That because someone submits a lot of slogans, that they don't think each one is a good slogan before submitting them, and that they didn't take a lot of time working on them.

In the two days I participated in your contest, I spent around 12 hours total time thinking up ideas. That comes to over 15 minutes time for every single slogan I submitted. I did not submit any slogans that I thought were bad slogans. I actually was typing the ideas into my computer first, and I deleted many ideas before even submitting them to the forum. I only picked the ideas I thought would be good slogans for the site.

So I think you are being prejudicial in automatically saying that it MUST be low quality if its quantity. I took a lot of time on each slogan I submitted, thought about each idea. Typed each idea into a notepad on my computer first, and deleted many ideas I didn't like, before submitting the ones I liked.


quality > quantity

If someone spends 30 minutes and comes up with 2 good slogans.

Then if someone else spends 300 minutes and comes up with 20 good slogans.

Your argument is entirely that the person who submitted 20 slogans MUST BE lower quality then the person who submitted 2 slogans.

But if both people spend equal amount of time and effort on thinking up ideas, then regardless of who does the greater quantity, the quality is equal. Its very prejudicial to automatically say that a greater quantity must absolutely be lower quality.

I once submitted 200 ideas to a contest, but what you don't realize is I spent 100 hours coming up with those 200 ideas. I don't submit junk or crap to any contest I participate in. I try to come up with the best ideas. And if you looked at the time stamps on my 12 posts in a row, you will see that the timestamps spans hours and hours of time that I spent working on them. Over 7 hours, and I spent 5 hours the night before. So 12 hours on 50 slogans. 15+ minutes per idea. And like I said before, I was typing ideas into a notepad on my computer first, and I deleted any ideas I didn't like, before submitting anything to the site.

Anyways, I just wanted to respond one last time, because I think you are not being fair to me. I entered your site, I read your contest rules. I followed the rules, and I was a good user. And I worked very hard and spent a very long amount of time on the ideas I submitted. So when I see things like you saying "fleppin ridiculous", "assinine amount of posts" and then quoting the "quality > quanitity" without even considering the amount of time and work involved. Quality is based on the work involved and amount of effort a person takes, and I stand behind the quality of my work.

But do try to put yourself in my shoes and how I'm probably feeling right now, after all this crap happened to me, when I just joined this site and honestly was trying to participate the way I thought you wanted people to participate. How would you feel Rob Williams, if you joined a new site, and this happened to you? When you weren't doing anything different then you done before in any other contest? When you worked very hard and spent a lot of time and hard work on your contest submissions?


As this point in time, I won't be participating on any other contests here.
And this will be the last time I post any more comments on this subject. I don't think people are being fair to me though, or treating me the way they would of wanted to be treated themselves if the situation was reverse.

All I ask now, which is the same thing I asked before, that you consider my contest entries fairly. I did work hard on them, and after all this crap I went thru, I deserve to be treated fairly and honorably, and have my contest entries treated the same as anyone else. If this truly is a good site, then you will treat each user fairly and honorably. But so far I have received some of the worst treatment here, that I ever received on a site I ever joined.

But do try to put yourself in my shoes and how I'm probably feeling right now, after all this crap happened to me, when I just joined this site and honestly was trying to participate the way I thought you wanted people to participate. How would you feel Rob Williams, if you joined a new site, and this happened to you? When you weren't doing anything different then you done before in any other contest?

I have never entered a contest in my life, so I do not know how I would feel. I do apologize for all that's happened. If you want to look at it from someone elses shoes, try mine on. This is the first contest I've personally held of this scale, and immediately thought what everyone else thought.. that you were post whoring.

I admit it.. flat out. I was wrong and I apologize. I should have made the rules far more clear, but I didn't think I originally overlooked anything when I had. I looked over the situation with you in the wrong light, but it didn't help that you wrote up page long explanations about how things should be done. The best thing to do is to come to me directly and explain the situation, then I can adjust things appropriately.
