LMAO! Hmm never thought to have porn on hand. I usually have my laptop hooked up next to me and I play Old Nintendo roms while grinding. Guess i'll try the porn thing too .

<rant> L2 is evil.
I have my reasons to dislike this game, a lot with how the game started from beta to open, its very slow leveling, money macroers, and because of all the jerks who would just come up and kill you for no reason, trying to make you go red. I never went red, not once, but I had been PK'ed many times, not my cup of tea.
Plus personal reasons as to why I hate the game. So, L2 is evil.

I agree, L2 is evil, and I understand your reasons.
I actually don't even know why I enjoy it to be completely honest, but it's decent, lol.

L2 is great.
I hate games where you can get a level or two in a matter of minutes. I like something where there is a sense of complication.
L2 provides that.
L2 > my wife. :P

There is a big difference between having a fun challenge and leveling in L2. Yes, the game has an exigent leveling system, but it’s so difficult that many people who play for leisure can never accomplish what the hard core players have, and in order to have any form of real fun in L2 you have to be high level. I am not whining, I’m just pointing out a fact. Some people play at different paces and it seems that in order to get anywhere in L2 you have to play and play a lot. The leveling crunch is so tedious it makes you want to fall asleep at the keyboard. The only thing truly entertaining is castle sieges, and even then if you’re low level, meaning 30 or lower, you might as well forget it. You’ll get owned every time by the hard core players. Did I mention griefers? Yet another annoying aspect of the game. Yes, every game has those, but in L2 they are the worst.
All I’m saying is that a game shouldn’t be so hard that the leveling grind makes you want to smash your monitor to bits. Most games I've played have a normal leveling rate, but L2 is far beyond normal, it’s so difficult that even though I was a huge fan at one point I lost interest, and lost it fairly quickly. Why work so hard to accomplish something only to lose your items, exp and even the level you spent the last five hours working for when someone decides to be a jerk and kill you (either by slaying you themselves or dragging mobs to you) or you unintentionally go red (yes, it happens, everyone should know this)? Heck, it’s so boring that more than half the people who do play macro. Yes, they do, quit living in denial. If you enjoy hard core boring games like that then great, whatever tickles your fancy. For me, I like a game that is fun and isn't monotonous. I like games that are not only challenging but mentally stimulating. L2 is just a great big heap of frustration and a big waste of time for anyone who plays it.
Hope you have fun in L2 anyway, but I doubt it :)

Whew, *wipes sweat off forehead*
That was quite the post Jen. Try getting to level 50, then you will see what a true grind is. I haven't touched it in weeks due to the fact it's too boring at this point.
Good game, but if it was easier.. less of a grind, it would be much, much funner.
It's a Korean game, and Koreans are hardcore players, so they don't mind it as much. Just not so much a American type of game :|

The only reason there hardcore gamers is cus they have nothing better in life to do than sit at there computers and eat McDonnalds and accomplish noting in life.
Wait I think I just discribed myself...

I know, I'm a little too passionate about my dislike of L2. Can't be helped, bad me. Games I highly recommend are Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot and World of Warcraft. They may not be your hard core uber hard leveling games, but they are a great deal of fun. Isn't that why we play games in the first place?

Here we go again :)
L2 is hardcore yes, L2 below 52 is boring as watching grass grow... Im a lvl 58 Phantom Ranger now and im like the 4th from the bottom from my clan in levels. Im having a GREAT deal of fun; too bad the server is not too fun anymore. Before we had tons of enemies, now we kinda rule the server and everybody is afraid to fight us.
Anyhoo... I thought i liked wow..i played the beta for a week or so non stop..and it got boring... I thought when the PVP started to come (lvl 20++) it would get more fun, but the boring part started there. I went with a couple of guys to the alliance side (i was undead).. we pvped, dropped a few people, and i died. Damn i thought... Well.. At least i THOUGHT i though damn. I just stood up, walked to my corpse as if nothing happened.
In L2 there is this feeling when u drop someone in PVP...its like: Booyah!... +1 for me :).
And when u GET dropped in PVP, you get pissed: "Damn..there goes 5 hours of grinding EXP...". In L2 i feel i have accomplished something by killing someone, or getting to a certain lvl... People can get to lvl 60 in just more than a week in WOW.
Tbh, the grind starts at lvl 65 in L2... Im 58 and get like 0.03% per mob in a good party... At 65 you get hit hard by the XP grind and get like 0.0133% per mob... Which means almost 10k mobs before you get one lvl...
I don't know why i like the game that much...the grind is horrible....but the gameplay, especially PVP is teh pwn... I never played a game that was this hardcore, and had such great elements in PVP...
Just my 2 cents :)
Great site rob! keep it up!

I like L2... But GG and lack of fun activities to pass the time are killing me...
Its better than WoW...
More Indepth than CoH but less fun...
Can we say F'ed Up economy?
Bots are a minus... But if they keep prices down im coo with ppl using em... but i never will...

Man during the summer time L2 was my life only because I had nothing to do except work and that my cousin bought me a copy and a gamecard. I thought it was pretty cool at first and thought the character models, though limited, looked great. Specially when my DE Knight got a set of Brigandine, or when my Human Rogue got his set of Reinforced Leather.
But the game started to get really boring for me after lvl 35ish. Since I don't party up alot and I hate Cruma tower, I solo'd a lot at OB and the lizards near Giran. Talk about watching the grass grow, I was getting like .04% per kill... That is just way too much for me.
What L2 fails to do is give players the option to do more than just grind or pvp. I really enjoyed my time with L2 until I reached that wall, but it saddens me that a game with much potential is going down with poor customer service and lack of gm support along with the lack of content the game provides.

Not to mention GG...
The game could be revived and made the best by simply adding in a few things...
1. remove GG
2. Add in High lvl quests... FOR EXP
3. Can we say MINI game? I mean alot of the FF series alot for example were awsome for making the mini games so nice in late game....

Yeah exactly, the lack of game content is one of the major issues (in my opinion) that's hurting the game. And GameGuard...
Because of GG I can't play due to my campus firewall which does some crazy things and stuffs that interfere with the stuffs and that thing.
If you were able to like buy a house, play some sort of sport and win adena, breed a horse or something (and yes I know you can eventually raise a dragon) so you can ride to town to town instead of dishing out adena or spending half an hour traveling. Do farming to farm vegetables that you can eat/use as potions, I don't know do something to give players besides the grind.

Well, the in game minigames are monster tracks (its stupid), Lottery (its stupid)... But owning a castle and setting up the Manor system is a real challenge; but really fun to do.
Also seeding is a change of pace when it comes to grind.
But 0.04% a kill is good EXP... When u get to lvl 70+ its 0.005% each mob i believe, in a good party with all the supports in the party actively playing.
I love the idea with Dusk & Dawn in C3, as well as the new skills that comes with that and the new hunting grounds. Also the Hero thing in C3 will be really cool; too bad you have to reach lvl 75 twice :S...

Mike

Still, It would be nice to see a larger pet base. I mean sure i can summon Kat, but it is a momster. Why cant one be tamed? I mean hell even the summoners dont exactly get a wide range of summons... It not like they can summon multiple monsters... Is alil diversity too much to ask for?
Also, card games would be nice... Some sort of player interaction with dice for the gambling.
All in all the game just lacks depth but makes up fo rit with hours of game play. If it were a console ppl would be bitchng at how boring it is.

L2 = money and time sinkhole and NC Soft = Satan as far as I'm concerned.
I have never before played a game that was so lax in customer service, support, and overall management of resources. The 1-year anniversary of L2 is rounding the corner and they still have all of the in-game issues that players have been complaining about since retail release, PLUS new GG BS to deal with.
After playing L2 for 5 months I will never directly and knowingly support NC Soft again via buying any piece of software they openly support, develop, or have any direct affiliation with...
leecho7
03-09-2005, 08:35 PM
Exactly, I see NCsoft the same way. It is one of the most evil organizations out there, along with the Olsen Twins, Sesame Street, and Walt Disney. ?
I read an article saying how Koreans are protesting against NCsoft and the Lineage franchise, because in Korea NCsoft is charging the Korean people about $26 a month. Now when your talking about won (Korean currency) that's a lot of friggin won, similar to the Japanese yen. Not only are the American's having problems with NCsoft, it turns out many Koreans are having issues with them as well.
Of course this was about half a year ago or so, so the situation might have changed by then.

Everyone is slowly being converted to the dark side.... muwahahaha. No, seriously, this is exactly why I don't play the game anymore. Support is lacking, game play is boring and the issues the game had at release are STILL issues.
Everyone shall think like Jen! You shall hate L2... muwahaha... err... eh, yeah. Anyway, happy gaming! :) (even if you play lame, boring, stupid L2 :D)

Dark Age of Camelot >>>> L2.
BUT, L2 is definitely slicker-looking and more chaotic, requiring a more aggressive gaming style. Oh, and L2's grind sucks. For being advertised as a PvP game, I've spent about 1% of my in-game time doing PvP, and I have 1 char almost 60 with 2 over 40.
In DAoC, you could PvP or PvE 24/7 if you wanted to, and siege anytime. Then again, DAoC is over 3 years old and has had a lot of time to refine itself, while L2 has been out for barely a year. I still play both.
