Just go ahead and put them there scores at the top!

But really.. I got my gig of patriot dual channel ram in and have the system stable at 2.1GHz just using fsb increases. My mb doesn't have anything other than that and ram timings. I seem to have PC1700 Ram to Everest for some reason..? Ph33r my 31337 pc.
l o l
Unfortunately I'm not able to use my better hard drive, an ide WD Caviar 80g. A few weeks ago windows didn't want to work and I picked up 10g so I could use windows and access my files. Now I'm stuck with a 5400Rpm 2mb ata-66, I think, and running an old Radeon 9200 128Mb video card. I couldn't even run 3dMark05. I don't think it would have mattered anyway seeing my score of a little over 1k in 3dMark03.
Blumen

The reason why Everest is seeing your ram at that weird speed is because that's the speed that it's running at. It benches your ram in it's current configuration, which is not necessarily what it's running at, at that time.
What motherboard is it, anyway? Also, what's the specs on the ram?
I have a 2200+ kicking around, and at stock it's scoring 5.5k cpu points in aquamark3.
Overall score is pretty good for a 9200 though. Beats my old fx5200 score.

It's a Shuttle Ak39N. I wanted to go with an Ak35 but got talked out of it. That was my first pc I built myself and wasn't as confident in my decisions then as I am now. The Ak35 offers a lot more in the way of overclocking. I got the Patriot Signature Line PC3200 2x512. The speeds are supposed to be 2-3-2-5 but when I set it to that my pc wouldn't post. So I set it to autodetect and it's giving me 2.5-3-3-6. I'm going to check up on the timings from other reviews at NewEgg. Some were saying the paperwork was wrong.

It won't OC at all. I've been trying all day and anything above default settings for either the CPU or the ram and it either BSOD's or it hard locks.
Oh well, it's fast as hell at default settings as it is.

madmat
01-19-2006, 03:43 PM
No, all the other guys surrounding me are running P4's at a minimum of 3.4ghz. I'd say that mine at 3.2 is actually doing pretty well all things considered.

SillySider and i are trading back and forth for #1 in '06 for Socket A/6800nu.
My best so far, after a total of two runs is 2339. :P

Disabled HT and gained 150+ in the CPU score but for some reason I had to roll the core back to 385Mhz from 390...
In short the score is 2175 now.

^Nice, you got me beat on all the cpu tests, but i haven't overclocked that yet.
That's pretty weird that no HT helped you though.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=49333
madmat
01-27-2006, 04:08 PM
Not really, I noticed a trend on the P4's that the scores with no HT tended to be higher CPU wise and the scores with HT were lower. Now the 6XX series are the exception to this, they have the massive L2 cache though so that might have something to do with it.
Jakal
01-28-2006, 12:41 AM
Aquamark and 3dMark01 scores @2.7. Dropped the Htt multiplier to 4x, 900Mhz effective.

<3 Amd lol. I've got the 7800GT at 495/1250. I think I can improve those scores once I get the sata hd. I'm running on a WD Caviar 80G at Ata-100. Will be stepping up to Sata shortly.

Great stuff man. Time to overclock'er ;-)
madmat
11-24-2006, 11:40 AM
Actually that was slightly OC'ed. I've found that it errors when I try to get the Vram above 735mhz (1.47 according to the nV drivers) and it won't complete the test for the OC.
Doesn't look good for the MCWR after I migrate over to water. It's on air ATM.
Rob Williams
11-24-2006, 12:04 PM
The 7950GT I had didn't like an overclocked mem clock either... I didn't go much beyond 775MHz. The core was great though, going up to 650MHz.
Maybe you will have better luck with your core. Regardless, you have good scores at stock. Right in line with what I was getting.

Alright, it seems like there is a little support left for this, so I might recreate sometime soon and include 3D Mark 06 and also Sandra. Is there anything else that should be included?
I'll include scores from my beasts, even though it's a little unfair, but it will kick things off. I'll hopefully get on testing my own stuff in the coming days and then will merge some scores over.
Would anyone on staff or forum regular be interested in managing a thread like this?

What would you have to do to manage?
I'm still green at overclocking....lol
I do searches on google and see threads from other forums, so maybe a thread like this would bring more members to techgage forums.

Editing the scores and the like, whenever someone submits a new score.
I might submit a score for both the Skulltrail and the main machine I'm using for Linux when I can find the time though.

Count me in. I can update it in my down time at work. There was such a lack of participation that it fell to the wayside but if we can gather interest, I would be happy to update the lists on a daily basis.
B1lk1, do you have any suggestions? Perhaps ideas that you learned from the AQM4 boards?

Count me in. I can update it in my down time at work. There was such a lack of participation that it fell to the wayside but if we can gather interest, I would be happy to update the lists on a daily basis.
B1lk1, do you have any suggestions? Perhaps ideas that you learned from the AQM4 boards?
We used HWBOT on AQM4 forums, although the HWBOT is a pain in the ass sometimes. I am pretty sure it works with V-Bulletin better than the IPB software AQM4 runs. If you want, I can set up a Techgage HWBOT team easy enough.

OK, it's on. With Greg's help, we can keep this thing up to date. I'll create a new thread tomorrow. I think we'll include 3DMark 06 overall score and SiSoftware SANDRA Multi-Media and Arithmetic.
Any suggestions?
At first, I'll throw in my scores, though a little unfair, but it will help kick things off.

I knew you were the man to talk to about this. Perhaps we can get a few from the AQM site to post some scores here as well... spur a little competition.

Instead of posting your scores with that Skulltrail, why don't you just use MS-PAINT, or whatever generic open source version Gentoo comes with, and draw us all bending over and your scores giving us the business.
That said, I am excited for more scores. Competition, and fair competition at that, will bring more people to the forums. It can only help IMO.

You might want to change SuperPi to mod 1.5 and then there's a new lightsMark benchmark out that's pretty interesting that you might want to add.
http://dee.cz/lightsmark/
Natural lighting makes artificial graphics life-like. Computers get faster, but rendering more polygons doesn't add value if lighting looks faked, so insiders know that the next big thing is proper lighting aka Realtime Global Illumination. Typical workloads in realtime rendering will shift. Lightsmark simulates it. Global Illumination renders often take hours. Is your computer fast enough for realtime?
Before Lightsmark, realtime global illumination was limited to small scenes, small resolutions, small speeds, specially crafted scenes with handmade optimizations. Lightsmark breaks all limits at once, running in reasonably sized scene (220000 triangles) in high resolution (1680x1050) at excellent speed (100-400fps). Lighting is computed fully automatically in original unmodified scene from 2007 game World of Padman, not tweaked for Lightsmark and with all sorts of geometrical difficulties, with extra rooms hidden below floor etc.

3D Mark 06 = 14,149, single 8800GT............:D
Lights Mark = 483 default screen size of 1280 x 1024
Rob Williams

I'll check out that Lightsmark tomorrow sometime. I'd rather not include SuperPi as it's rather useless. It's a single-threaded application and in no way shows off the strength of a system. In addition, it's not that optimized... and it actually takes longer to compute Pi than others do.
Right now we'd like to include:
Futuremark 3DMark 06
SiSoftware SANDRA XI Arithmetic
SiSoftware SANDRA XI Multi-Media
Cinebench R10
Thoughts?
sbrehm72255
03-19-2008, 01:40 AM
I guess I'm going to go and find SANDRA XI, Don't think I have that version...............:(
Rob Williams

Err, I meant XII, my bad.
http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/index.html?dir=dload&location=sware_dl_all&langx=en&a=
We'd upgrade it with each new major version.

Piss off! Aquamark is the single best benchmark ever. It might actually save humanity. That or I just want to include it to justify the countless nights it's stolen from me.

I agree with Super PI. I got 17 seconds on my gaming machine, and 23 seconds on my Dual CPU Xeon Server. I don't get that at all. Must be purely CPU speed determined.

CPU and memory..............;)
I like messing with SuperPi myself. It takes a ton of tuning to get your times down.

SuperPi is just incredibly single-threaded, so having a higher score doesn't mean much. BUT, if single-core frequency is what we are going for, then it could be included.
SuperPi just doesn't do much for me. It was far cooler back when single and dual-cores were king, but with the advent of Quad-Cores, it's lost it's appeal. For example, a 3.5GHz OC'd E6600 would beat out a 3.0GHz QX9650, despite them being on an entirely different level, and that's what I find odd.
If you all think we should include it... then we can. I do think it should be the 32Mil test only though... the others complete far too quick.
sbrehm72255
03-19-2008, 05:58 PM
Some sites do 1 meg while others do 32 meg, guess it really doesn't matter.
You're right about the difference in single/dual cores against Quads, I guess I still like it because I still run a dual core.............;)
We can pass on it if you like, it was just a suggestion.........:)
I'm easy that way.
