Maping is where you create maps, Like creating counter-strike levels.

Im games like warcraft and starcraft however it can include some logic based trigger with variables and such which once playing the map give feel for being a completely different game. Warcraft for instance is a reall time strategy based game, but some of the custom maps are actually RPGs with save codes wepons armor and everything. There are actually many types of custom maps for WC3.
