My system is getting fairly old.

Any have any suggestions on what to build?

I want Intel, but NOT C2D...too spendy for this guy. Will take AMD suggestions as well.

Pentium D? Celeron? POSSIBLY A64X2?

If you are not going to get a C2D... get whatever you want. If you get a Pentium D, you will be shooting yourself in the foot. The performance is just not there, and it runs hot and has a large power draw.

I'd get a cheap C2D (E4300) and a cheap motherboard (ASUS P5N-E) and be done with it. You will need some DDR2 memory though.

That would be my recommendation if your goal is not overclocking.

Hey thanks.

They overclock like a dream dont they?

Thats what I hear.

Also...that is a GREAT deal on the 2gb of OCz.

Thanks Rob. :)

I waited until there was an ASUS SLI motherboard on sale and grabbed it. I added a below average CPU and basic memory because of the budget. But now there isn't too much I can't throw at it. Get a good motherboard on sale and in neccessary, add basic parts until you can upgrade.

Not bad for an Asus 680i board ( 159.00 )

I paid more for my AMD M2N32 SLI Deluxe WiFi
