If I have a 1GB stick of Corsair DDR2 800 PC6400 RAM 240-Pin

Can I use another brand of RAM later on with same specs? The only reason I didn't get two sticks right off the bat was for cost.

Just wondering if brand matters as long as the specs are exactly the same.

Thanks! :)

It can matter. Just be aware of the RMA policy in case you get a stick that disagrees with what you have. Even at the same specs, different sticks of ram can have different memory chips. One may have Micron while the other may use Elpida. If that's the case, chances are you will have issues getting them to function with each other.

The sad thing is also, sometimes even the -same- brand of ram can change chips as they go along, despite being the same model. That's a rare occurance though. I recommend buying the same stick, but if you don't mind RMA, then give it a chance. I guess that your success will be at around 75% if you buy a different stick.
